Athens to Barcelona
April 29 - May 8, 2023
11 Nights on Regent Seven Seas Splendor
The "Bucket List" voyage of a lifetime!
April 29 - Athens, Greece
Piraeus is the gateway to the ancient city of Athens, a historian’s delight, Athens is home to such magnificent wonders as: the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the atmospheric winding streets of the Plaka, Temple of Olympian Zeus and Temple of Athena Nike, and the Archaeological Museum with the world’s finest collection of ancient artifacts.
April 30- Mykonos, Greece
8 AM to 7 PM
This island is one of Greece’s most adored destinations due to its picture- postcard setting and growing nightlife. Mykonos is a superb example of Cycladic architecture, and by law even new buildings have to be built in the same style of whitewashed, organic, cube-like buildings. Be sure to plan a day trip to take in picturesque Little Venice, the unique Paraportiani, and the archeological dig at Delos.
May 1 - Izmir, Turkey
7 AM to 7 PM
Curled around a cerulean bay, Izmir buzzes with a remarkably cosmopolitan vibe considering its estimated 4,000 years of history. Soak up sublime Mediterranean atmosphere along a café-laden waterfront, noshing on boyoz, kumru, kokoreç and lokma (‘king of desserts’) over kahve, Turkey’s thick, strong coffee. Snap photos roaming the archways and columns of Izmir’s Roman agora before visiting the intricately patterned clock tower in Konak Square. Haggle at 500-year-old Kemeralti Bazaar, visit Izmir’s archaeological museum and ride a teleferic (cable car) for panoramic views of the ‘Pearl of the Aegean’.
May 2 - Santorini, Greece
10 AM to 9 PM
With dramatic views of classic whitewashed houses clinging perilously to the side of the caldera and stunning beaches of white and red sand or black pebbles, it’s no wonder this may be the most photographed scenery in the world. A most beautiful shopping stroll can be found at the top, where cliffside cafes offer opportunities for a bite with incredible views of the Caldera. Visit Ancient Akrotiri, the archeological site of a town frozen in time by ash from an eruption 3,600 years ago.
May 3 - Cruising the Ionion Sea
We plan to have a Swiss Team event, or you can simply relax and enjoy the ship and all of its wonderful activities.
May 4 - Messina (Sicily), Italy
7 AM to 6 PM
Messina, the third largest city in Sicily, was the most important port of departure for European knights on their way to the Crusades in the Middle Ages. Today, this extensively rebuilt port city still boasts many historically and architecturally significant landmarks, particularly the renowned cathedral with its unusual astronomical clock and the ornate Teatro Vittorio Emanuele. Messina is also the starting point for a day trip to the peak of breath-taking Mt. Etna-Crateri Silvestri.
May 5 - Sorrento/Capri, Italy
7:30 AM to 6 PM
Sorrento is surely one of the world’s most beautiful towns, built on a coast with breathtaking views and landscapes. Overlooking the bay of Naples, the town is the key point on the Sorrentine Peninsula and is one of the most popular destinations of the entire Campania region. Make sure to plan a day trip to Capri, one of the most celebrated Italian islands, noted for its natural beauty. Pompeii and Positano are just a taxi ride away, too!
May 6 -Rome (Civitavecchia), Rome
7 AM to 7 PM
Whether enjoying the street performers at the Spanish Steps and people-watching over a fine glass of wine in colorful Trastevere, or taking in the historical and architectural glory that is Rome, visitors are spoiled for choice in this truly Eternal City. Home of the renowned Trevi Fountain, the Coliseum, Roman forum, Pantheon, Vatican City and Aventine Hill, which provides you with so much history to see.
May 7 - Monte Carlo, Monaco
10 AM to 7 PM
Tiny, but packed with fun, Monte Carlo offers a wonderful combination of history, beauty, entertainment and leisure. The wealthiest spot in Monaco, Monte Carlo is an enchanting place, known as the international capital of luxury and for its celebrity-sightings, casinos and nightlife. Palaces, cathedrals and museums dot this small municipality in an old town full of rich history. Be sure to catch the once-daily changing of the guard, then tour the public areas at the Palais du Prince, home to the royal family, whose most famous resident was famous actress Grace Kelly.
May 8 - Port-Vendres, France
9 AM to 7 PM
Explore pretty Collioure, a favorite destination of Matisse, with its distinctive pinkish-beige houses, colorful harbor, and winding streets. Nearby, visit magnificent Carcassonne, a breathtaking fortified hilltop city of turrets, stained glass and lovely squares resurrected from ruin in the 19th-century. Look for antiques, contemporary art and reproductions as well as local crafts. Try some tempting roast lamb or the catch of the day accompanied by local cheese and fruit with local wine.
March 21 - Barcelona, Spain
One of Europe’s most visually stunning cities, Barcelona balances the medieval intimacy of its Gothic Quarter with the grace and distinction of the wide boulevards in the Moderniste Eixample. It was the home of architect Antoni Gaudí, whose Sagrada Familia Cathedral, Park Güell and Casa Milà are the most profound statements of Modernisme. View the splendid works at the Picasso Museum and the Miro Foundation, or discover Barcelona’s passionate ambiance at a flamenco show.
